FREE Star Party with the Los Angeles Astronomical Society on Saturday, November 19, 2022, from 4 PM - Midnight
Come on up and spend a night under the stars with these great volunteers who share their private telescopes with the public.
Highlights of the night will include fall and winter favorites like the Andromeda Galaxy, the Orion Nebula and the planets Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars.
- The event is a fundraiser for the Los Angeles Astronomical Society - donations are welcome! To make a donation online, click HERE.
- Bring the kids as this is an event for the whole family, but please leave your dogs at home.
- The Star Party will be held in the upper parking lot of Mount Wilson Observatory. The rest of the Observatory grounds will be closed to the public.
- Parking will be available in the lower parking lot.
- Bring red flashlights to use in the dark areas around the telescopes.

- Enter through the main gate and a volunteer will direct you to the Star Party.
Keep in Mind
- Registration is NOT required - just come up and enjoy the evening!
- Weather can cancel the event so keep an eye on the various social media or our website for updates if the weather is iffy.
- Parking permit/forest pass is NOT required.
- There are no gas stations on the mountain; the closest is in La Canada.
- Most people do not have cell phone reception once heading up Angeles Crest Hwy.
- This event does not give access to the 60- or 100-inch telescopes.
- The observatory is at an elevation of 5,700 feet. Those with heart or respiratory issues should exercise caution when visiting.
- The event is handicapped accessible; inform the parking attendant when you arrive.
