ARTS @ THE OBSERVATORY: Cosmic Sounds - Saturday, August 13, 2022, 7:30 PM

Enjoy a night of sights and sounds with this enhanced observing opportunity.

COSMIC SOUNDS:

Mount Wilson Observatory is pleased to begin the night with a presentation of:  "Within Sound: The Acoustic Sculptures of Michael Brewster."  

Within the 100-inch Dome, visitors will physically engage with six of Brewster's works as they move throughout the space and also learn about Brewster's pragmatic approach to his art that encompassed sound, engineering, and architecture.   

"Within Sound" immerses visitors in the sonic environments of this pioneering sound artist.  These works capture his artistic evolution over four decades and demonstrate the evolving acoustic complexities Brewster constructed as he developed his works from a single sound wave to multi-soundwave installations.   

Each work will be preceded by a brief explanation of the artist's evolving approach to acoustic art during his career.

Attendance will be limited to allow for movement among the sound waves.

OBSERVING:

Following the acoustic presentation, guests will be expertly guided through their observations of the night skies through the 100-inch telescope until 11:30 PM.
