Summary
Description
A CONSTELLATION OF CONCERNS
Plan for a full evening at the Observatory. The night begins with a lecture, given by Glenn Kaino, Artist, Board of Adviser, Hammer Museum. Join Kaino as he talks about his inventive, multidisciplinary approach, where he finds inspiration, his collaborative method, and how his art creates engagement with vital issues. With a wide range of projects in a wide range of mediums, Kaino thoughtfully considers important political, social, and environmental issues, such as equity, social justice, and climate change. He describes each work as existing as a Constellation of Concerns, within which each project ethically engages multiple ideas in conceptually aligned ways.
OBSERVING
After the talk, guests can view the night sky until midnight through the Observatory's 60-inch or 100-inch telescopes.
The Los Angeles Astronomical Society will also have its telescopes set up around the grounds for viewing different night sky objects.
