Mount Wilson's 60-inch Telescope Public Ticket Nights make the remarkable experience of telescope viewing available to visitors not associated with a group. We have set aside a night for individuals to observe the stars with the first large, precision-made reflecting telescope in the world, the one that revolutionized the technology. You will be looking through the historic telescope that astronomer Harlow Shapley used to measure the size of our Milky Way Galaxy for the first time and find our position in it, removing us from the center.
Come enjoy an incredible night of astronomy on the largest telescope in the world available for public use. Be Aware:
COVID-19 Policy:The Mount Wilson Institute Board of Trustees has instituted the following Covid-19 protocols: For all events at Mount Wilson Observatory, all attendees must be FULLY vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination will be required at the event check-in. In addition, masks are required in all indoor areas of the observatory grounds, which include the telescope dome.
